Aviation Art of Michael Short
The unmatched quality of time and space can be found only in the artwork of Mr.Michael Short. There may be other competent fine aviation artists in the world that work with oils. Mr. Short is the only current aviation artist that is able to bring his unique talents together for an unsurpassed piece of fine art that captures the wind in the wires, the noise of the exhaust, and the smell of fuel in just the viewing experience.
Michael Short's oil painting of the The Bear Trap, the image above, captures the aviation and nautical feal that brings the tension of the "Cold War" back to life. The original oil paining of The Bear Trap is available for purchase directly from Mr. Short.
In Mr. Short's painting The Battle of the Bismark Sea, the image to the left, he has captured that unique balance of action between aviation and nautical characters to portray the USAAF 5th AF's assault against the Imperial Japanese Navy's monopoly in the South Pacific.
Continuing with the aviation and nautical theme,
Michael Short was commissioned by the Evergreen Museum, the current owners of
Howard Hughes HK-1 "Flying Goose," to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of
this famous aircraft's first flight. Artist Proofs and Remarks of this
painting are available from Mr. Short.
The famous Flying Tiger ace R. T. Smith's P-40B is shown in Mr. Short's painting to the left. A pencil sketch print of Tex Hill's P-40B, signed by Tex Hill and Michael Short, is currently available from Mr. Short.
The image below is Mr. Short's painting called Answered Prayer. This painting portrays a damaged B-17 returning from a mission over Germany, and being escorted by two "Little Friends", P-47D fighters. Signed prints, Artist Proofs, and Remarks are available of this image from Mr. Short.
