Shalako
Australian Shepherds: About Us
I acquired my first Australian Shepherd in 1987 which we used on the family ranch in far west Texas.Shalako Australian Shepherds has produced dogs with American, German, and Luxemborg championships, as well as advanced titles in agility, obedience titles and stock titles in both AKC and ASCA. I have been fortunate enough to have bred/owned and handled several National Specialty Premier winners, AKC Group winners and placers. Many of our dogs are used on our cattle ranch in Palestine, Texas along beside their competitive venues. I am a member of the Australian Shepherd Club of America, member of the United States Australian Shepherd Association, Officer of Texas Australian Shepherd Association and President of The Northwest Texas Australian Shepherd club. I have served as a Board member for the parent club, the Australian Shepherd Club of America, Chaired of the ASCA Conformation Committee and currently participate as a member of the ASCA Breed Standard Review Committee and ASCA Education Committee. Among my many educational projects, I have written and illustrated the booklet Australian Shepherd: Structure and Movement Illustrated and the Online Australian Shepherd Illustrated Breed Standard. I am currently licensed as a Senior levelbreeder judge in ASCA and I am pursuing my license in AKC for Australian Shepherds. Aside from my dog activities I also own my own business, Arts Enphaze, which focuses on marketing identity, logo design, and web design. As an artist, I work in several mediums including oil, watercolor, pastels, pen and ink, and have recently taken up digital photography. I am blessed with a wonderful family and group of friends who are always there offering support and smiles through good and bad. Without them, I wouldn't be where I am today. Irma Smith of Hidden Lane, Lauri Butler of Cimarron, Debbie Reneau of Beau geste and Wendy Gottlieb of Windogo provided me with the foundation that would set the style for Shalako dogs in the future. Lauri and Wendy, sadly are no longer with us, but I think of them often. I hope that they are proud of where we have taken their bloodlines as we are! |
