1949 Plymouth Special DeLuxe Club Coupe
Powered by Plymouth's 217.5 CID inline six flathead and 3-speed manual, this car is one of the smoothest driving vehicles I've ever experienced. All the torque you could want is present just off-idle, and is delivered silently- there's almost an electric motor quality to the way the engine runs. Its been in my family since the early 50s, and I have virtually all records pertaining to it, not that a great deal has been done to it. Although its a far cry from the muscle of my '69 R/T or the effortless highway performance of the 300L or Polara, it earned my respect many years ago.

Here's a driver's eye view. Note the diameter of the steering wheel, and the vacuum-tube AM radio.

In a field of Texas bluebonnets, seen from behind...

And from the front. When a H*nda or T#y*ta lasts this long and still runs this well, maybe I'll think about an asian import car (and monkeys will fly).
