The Hellenistic marble statue of Aphrodite of Melos (Venus de Milo) dates from the 2nd century BC. It was discovered on the Aegean island of Melos in 1820. It now stands in the Louvre Museum in Paris, France. Its twisting pose and missing arms have made it an icon of Western art.

Mirabilis Visu

Higgledy-Piggledy
Venus de Milo, the
Statue whose torso is
Armless and odd,
Stands as a model of
Greek-femininity;
All will agree it's a
Classical bod.
