                               * Generation I *

born: ( ) in VA
married: Elizabeth/Sarah Hubbard (January 17, 1789) in Henry County, VA
children:
Harrison [Sarah _?_], at least two other males and five females, based on the 1810 census of Garrard County, KY.
died: (before 1810) in Garrard County, KY
buried:
census: Thomas Posey was listed with one tithe on the 1790 tax list (Personal A) dated April 3 (line 8 page 12) in Henry County, VA; on the 1800 tax list he was in Garrad County, KY; on the 1810 census, his widow was (age 26-45) in Garrad County, KY; on the 1820 census, his widow was (over age 45) in Garrard County, KY; on the 1830 census, his widow was (age 50-60) in Garrad County, KY;
note: His wife was the daughter of Jane King and Harrison Hubbard/Hobard/Hobart/Hobert/Hubert. The 1810 census show these children in the household: 1 ♂ < 10, 1 ♂ 10-16, 1 ♂ 16-26; 2 ♀ < 10, 2 ♀ 10-16, and 1 ♀ 16-26. The 1820 census shows these children in the household: 1 ♂ 10-16, 1 ♀ < 10, 4 ♀ 16-25. The 1830 census shows 1 ♂ 5-10, 1 ♀ < 5, 1 ♀ 30-40 [likely a daughter and two grandchildren] in the household.

CAVEAT: It is strictly speculative that Thomas is the father of Harrison Posey. There were two other Posey surnames on the list, Humphrey and Bennett. However, the given name Thomas appears frequently in subsequent generations, and if Harrison Posey followed the conventional naming system of the time, his first son would have been named Thomas after his father, and such is the case. Also note that the given name of his wife's father was Harrison.
