census: He would have been about 80 years old on the first US census if he was still alive in 1790.
note: Neil McNeill and his family from Kintyre, Scotland, are on the passenger list of the ship Ulysses from Greenock, Scotland, to Wilmington, NC, dated August 1774. His middle name may have been Ian. There may have been older children who did not emigrate. Based on the age of the oldest child, Neil and Isobel would have been about 36 when Daniel was born. Their reason for emigration was "high rents and oppression," according to the passenger list from the Charterhouse in Edinburgh, Scotland.
