It is possible that Thomas Cave Sr had other children: a daughter named Sarah (who married Leonard Eddis [sic] on August 24, 1780) and a daughter named Elizabeth (who married Henry Lee on December 15, 1781), but they are NOT proven. Could Leonard Eddis actually be Leonard Edelen?

note: He was on the personal property tax lists of Fauquier County, VA, for 1817 through 1820, at least. In the spring of 1820, 1823, and 1825, fall of 1825, and fall of 1829, John and his wife deeded various pieces of property to various people--the last being to James Cave of Stafford County.

military service: James Cave served for a brief period in the Virginia militia during the War of 1812. Evidence for it is recorded in the Bounty Land Warrants #37732-80-50 and #17692-80-55. There is no pension number on the card. He was drafted at Germantown, Fauquier County, VA, and served from July 2-15, 1814, in Captain Seth Combs' company, 85th Regiment, VA militia, under General John Pratt Hungerford.
note: His first wife was the orphan of Robert Carter; she was age 15 when they married. Margaret Carter died (October 24, 1837) in Fauquier County, VA, shortly before her husband moved to Dallas County, AL.
