Actaeon, son of Aristaeus and Autonoë, was a celebrated huntsman. One day as he was hunting, he saw Artemis with her nymphs bathing in the vale of Garagraphia. The goddess changed him into a stag, in which form he was torn to pieces by his 50 dogs on Mount Cithaeron.
