Web Assignment

English 2322
Mr. Seiferth

It's time now for you to begin to explore resources found on the World Wide Web! We will have studied The Electronic Beowulf, The Canterbury Tales, On-Line Literary Resources, Lindisfarne Gospels at the British Museum: Turn the Pages!! and Gothic Dreams If you click on the above links, they will send you to menus which list various Web pages which directly address these works and/or authors. Finally, return to the Anglo Saxon Resource Page and explore and evaluate all of the links there.Anglo-Saxon and Viking Resorces. History of the English Language. Send your responses via ACCD email. You will be receiving the email addresses of each person in our class shortly.

This Presentation Paper, in order to become a community experience, will be posted sent to each student in our class. As you receive the emails from the class, please write a response to each one and reply so that we all get your response. Please be prepared to post your drafts so that we can comment upon them. Your final drafts will be sent along as e-mail and attachment. There will be deadlines for your posting the material, but you can, of course, work at your own pace.

To review...

Your assignment is to peruse these menus and find the Web Pages that you find to be informative and interesting. After spending a few minutes doing this, save the link AND write a review; or if you are new to this fascinating world, write a review of the link. Include the URL and discuss the content of the site. (How you do this is up to you for now, but you might find the several links on the Home Page helpful. One is called "Teaching Critical Evaluation Skills...") You should investigate one or more of the internet-student related books reviewed on the Home Page. Now you have a way to set up your own information catalog on your favorite English literature!!!

For Extra Credit!!!

Compare the content of two www sites each dealing with illuminated manuscripts. First, find www sites dealing with The Book of Kells. Next, locate www sites dealing with the Lindisfarne Gospels. Then, describe each illuminated manuscript in terms of its content, country of origin, time of creation, purpose, and so forth. Next, note the URL and include it in your project. Post it!
