A word about my short stories: They are based on actual incidents, events, and people. No one, however, should imagine himself or herself a participant in any of my work.
The Vietnam stories are set in I Corp (Marineland), Republic of South Vietnam (a country that no longer exists), during the years 1966 and 1967. I left the 1st Marine Division and Vietnam in 1967 and have never been back.
The Marine Barracks stories take place at Marine Barracks, Naval Weapons Station, Concord, California, during the years 1968 through 1970. I haven’t visited there in years, but I am reasonably certain neither Marine Barracks or the naval weapons station exist anymore, either.
The “Out in The World” stories are, as you might expect, those that are not set in Vietnam or Marine Barracks. They’re here because they belong nowhere else.
“A Christmas Wish (for a G.I.)” gets its own tab because, as a novella, it’s longer than a short story but shorter than a novel.
