everyone on my e-mail list (note: this list took all day yesterday to update...sorry for the delay)...Dad and I finally rolled into the lovely Metropolis of Jarrell, Texas (Pop. about 2,000)...salu! (NOTE: Heehaw reference for those in the USA.) Saturday night about 12:30am. The trip from Los Angeles was great...and will be summarized in a later e-mail...if you got this e-mail...you are on my list...if someone says they didn't get this e-mail...have them e-mail me and I will add them...thanks...

I have a few Thank-You's that I must say...hope I don't bore ya'll...but it is important. It has been a VERY eventful past couple of 3 weeks...it is not everyday that one quits your job of almost 6 years...uproots from and area you've lived for 4 years...and heads off to discover something (what? I don't know...I am hoping that one of you can tell me...so are my parents...go figure).

I would not be where I am at without lots of help and friendship...First...Thanks Dad for coming to California and driving back with me from Los Angeles...not a short drive...especially in a car with NO Airconditioner...Quite often forgotten is American Airlines and my former boss Mike Chambers...without AA I would have never had as many opportunties to travel (in the past 6ish years I have visited Scotland, Italy, Greece, Brazil, Peru, Costa Rica (4), Mexico (4), Australia, New Zealand, Canada (4-5 times), Honduras, Thailand, England, France, Spain (3), and lots of places in the USA) (note: those of you still working for AA (God help you) have it pretty good...and ya'll should all use your flight benefits!...or send me your buddy passes...or both)...and without Mike I would have not had as many professional opportunities as I had...or as many challenges or excel reports, etc...but c'est la vie! My co-workers in LAX really did a lot to help me and I can't say enough about you all...I hope you make Q3 plan and
get to the 1999 Pres Circle! NOTE: The icecream cake ya'll gave me was incredible...I almost want to get re-hired and leave again just to get another cake like that...it was great! OK...I am not going to even try to mention all of my friends in Texas, California, or abroad who have given me information, leads, suggestions, advice, and criticism about my trip...but I appreciate it all.

As to my California friends who I leave behind for now...thanks for everything! Joe Derhake, words can't describe how great a guy you are and how much I have enjoyed being your friend, roommate, and dive buddy...also, thanks for getting me into volleyball. Thanks to everyone who came to my going away party at Sangria...it was awesome! Special thanks to the 9 or so girls who happened to walk to Sangria with dad and I (made me look pretty good infront of the "old man"...I owe ya'll a beer). It really touched me that probably 50 or more people would show up on a Friday night to kick me out of the city...sniff...sniff...

This e-mail will be followed by a e-mail about the Mt. Whitney Climb and about the 1 week journey with Dad from California to Texas (yes, I know you are eagerly awaiting that one...)...

I'll keep in touch...and hope ya'll will do the same...
Best Regards and Thanks again to all,
Doug
