Routinely, this is the kind of work I do in my shop.

This book was beloved and special to the customer. 

We gave it special treatment (fitted-parallogram-tab repair, as shown below,  was required) as we do for all work we accept.

It is a bible simply repaired and recovered in cowhide.

No external lettering at customer request.  However, lettering is almost always requested.

I do many bibles, boy scout books, dog-chewed-on-it books, bedtime story books, etc. 

Papers of special signifignance can be bound for presentation at special events. Examples inlcude flight logs,

• Torn pages and spines repaired as necessary and when possible.  Various special repair techniques applied when required.
• Example to left is of "fitted parallogram-tab" repair perfected by Marky.  Using Japanese mending paper, it is subtly inserted under the original book stitching.  This technique often avoids dismemberment of the book signature and risking possible damage yet makes a strong binding . 
• Following this repair, the book is restiched by following the original stitching through the spine. 
• The ribbon bookmark is a customer optional feature. 
• DuPont Tyvek®  endpapers used on all work.

I use Tyvek® material in all my reconstructions. 

The Tyvek® material can be colored using random colors.  Each is uniquely hand painted  The material is personally selected and colored to match the color scheme of  your customized book cover design.  An example is the background for my homepage.

The strength of Tyvek® is amazing!  It simply cannot be torn by hand.

• This design won honorable mention at the 1997 Helen Warren DeGolyer Triennial Exhibition & Award for American Bookbinding held at the Bridwell Library at Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas. 
• Marky was featured as one of the 22 leading American bookbinders chosen for inclusion in the DeGolyer Exhibition.
• This unique design was executed as a concept, but has never been used in a book cover.  Blue Nigerian goat skin. Multi-colored goatskin inlays. 
• The design represents the seasonal stoles in the traditional liturgical colors.  It would be suitable for covering a very large Altar  Holy Book.
