U.S. Army 1945 - 1947
Virgil entered the U.S. Army on December 7, 1945. He served with the occupation forces in Europe where he was a assigned to the Railroad Military Police who shipped military supplies throughout Europe. He also was with the military police at the Nurenberg Trials. Virgil attained the rank of Private 1st Class before his discharge from the Army in February 1947.
