WT3 Erwin J. Steubing

U.S. Navy 1944 - 1946

Erwin entered the U.S. Navy on September 2, 1944.  He attended boot camp at the Naval Training Center, San Diego, California.  He spent all his time aboard ship in the South Pacific on the USS Caney (A095) and the USS Lindenwald (LSD6).  His ships participated in the battles at Okinawa, Caroline Islands, Japan and several air attacks.  He attained the grade of Water Tender Third Class (WT3).  Erwin was discharged from the Navy at the U.S. Navy Personnel Separation Center, Camp Wallace, Texas on June 14, 1946.
