Good Conduct Medal WWII Victory Medal


Melvin enlisted in the Marine Corps on May 15, 1944.  He served in the Pacific area from November 12, 1944 to July 31, 1946 during which time he attained the rank of Corporal.  He participated in action against the enemy at Okinawa in the Ryukyu Islands from April 1, 1945 to June 21, 1946.  He later participated in the occupation of China from October 11, 1945 to June 25, 1946.  Melvin was honorably discharged from the Corps at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina on August 8, 1946.  He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.  Melvin passed away February 3, 1988.
