Arthur joined the Regular Army in 1939.  He subsequently joined the U.S. Army Air Forces on October 4, 1941 at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas.  He received tecnical training in Airplane Maintenance at Keesler Field, Biloxi, Mississippi and served as an Airplane Mechanic.  He also performed as a bombadier on aircraft flying missions in the Aleutian Islands.  Arthur attained the rank of Private 1st Class during his service and was awarded, the Good Conduct Medal, the American Defense Medal, the American Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.  He was discharge from the Army Air Forces at Randolph Field, San Antonio, Texas on December 11, 1945.  Arthur passed away July 6, 1995.
