The Rev. William Walter Laubach was the seventh pastor to serve Zion Lutheran Church of Helotes. No information is available on Pastor Laubach's early life. He first appeared in San Antonio in 1916. A notice of services at Beital Memorial Lutheran Church in the August 12, 1916 edition of the San Antonio Light newspaper states that "Student W. Laubach of St. Paul, Minn. will preach at this service" (Sunday morning, August 13).
In early 1917 Rev. Laubach became pastor of the Harlandale-Helotes Parish, serving from Trinity Lutheran Church in San Antonio. He devoted more time to the church life of Zion than any of the pastors that had preceded him and contributed much to the growth of the congregation during the 19 years that he served.
Pastor Laubach was married during the time he served Zion Lutheran Church. He accepted a call from Georgetown, Texas in 1936.
