Paul William 'Uncle Boy' Weiss, age 91, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2001 in Temple, TX. Mr. Weiss was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Helotes, TX. He was a World War II, Air Force veteran and a pretty good baseball player. He played baseball while he was stationed at Brooks AFB in San Antonio. On this July 6, 2001, Mr. and Mrs. Weiss would have celebrated their 60th Anniversary. He is survived by his wife, Marguerite Weiss; one daughter, Mary Ellen and husband Gary Valentine; one granddaughter, Brook Valentine; one sister, Eleanor Gussie Ingersoll; one sister-in-law, Estelle Wilson; numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Sunday at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, June 25, 2001 at Zion Lutheran Church of Helotes, TX. Interment will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery of Helotes. Pallbearers will be Jerry Wilson, Scott Wilson, Charles Davenport, Thomas Davenport, Stanford Busby, Ralph Buller and Paul Wayne Grubbs. Honorary Pallbearers will be Calvin Galm and Cecil Dowell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church of Helotes Cemetery Fund, 9944 Leslie Road, San Antonio, TX 78254-9547.

Paul William "Uncle Boy" Weiss

Paul Weiss was born August 3, 1909 at the family farm in Welfare, Texas, the youngest boy and sixth of eleven children born to Henry August and Margaretha (Monken) Weiss. He received his education in a one-room schoolhouse in Welfare, and moved to San antonio in his early teens. He was confirmed in the Christian faith on April 27, 1924.
Marguerite Wilson married Paul Weiss on July 6, 1940. They would have been married 61 years this July. They moved to Leon Valley in 1963, and then to Temple, Texas in May of this year.
Paul served his country in the USAF(sic) in World War II. He played baseball while he was stationed at Brooks AFB, and had an opportunity to play in a minor league team. However, he had a family to support, and he worked as a butcher and firefighter following his military career.
Paul died this past Thursday at the age of 91 years, ten months and eighteen days. He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mary Ellen and her husband Gary Valentine; one grandaughter Brook Valentine; one sister, Eleanor Gussie Ingersoll; and one sister-in-law Estelle Wilson. Paul also leaves numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
