TATE

James Walton Tate

September 21, 1917 - December 11, 1994

Jim was born in Cranston, Rhode Island, the third child of James and Ellen Tate.  In 1941, he married his wife of 53 years, Anna Bilstad Tate.  Their marriage was blessed with two children, Jim and Mary.  After serving his country in the European Theater from 1943 to 1946, Jim and Anna settled in Brooklyn where Jim worked with shipping in the clothing industry.  After retirement, Jim and Anna moved to San Antonio in 1988, where they were active first at Cross of Victory Lutheran Church, and then since 1992, here at Zion.  In addition to his love for his own family and his care for his mother and sisters, Jim is remembered for his love of his church and his forthrightness in all his dealings.
