Louise Agnes Schlather, of New Braunfels, passed away Friday, October 17, 2003, in San Antonio, at the age of 78.  She was born to Fritz Philip Gass and Erna Margaret (Becker) Gass in Culebra, TX.  She married James Harvey Schlather May 6, 1948.  Mrs. Schlather was a member of First Protestant Church.  She also held memberships with the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, Retired Eagles Activity Club, Hermann & Sons Lodge No. 136, Texas Retired Teachers Association, Bulverde Community Center and the New Braunfels Auxiliary Fire Department.  She is survived by her husband, James H. Schlather of New Braunfels; daughter, Diane L. Schmidt and husband James of Boerne; sister, Viola Peters and husband Marvin of San Antonio; brother, Johnny Gass and wife Anita of Bergheim, TX; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Gass of San Antonio and Vera Mae Vogel of New Braunfels; brother-in-law, Walter Schlather of New Braunfels; grandsons, Jason Schmidt and Kevin Schmidt both of Boerne; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.  Mrs. Schlather was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ino B. Gass.  Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M., Monday, and from 8:00 A.M. until Service Time Tuesday.  Funeral Services are scheduled at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 21, 2003 at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels with Reverend Richard Carse officiating.  Interment will follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.  Memorial donations may be given to the American Diabetes Association, Eagles Auxiliary or to the charity of one's choice.  Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home New Braunfels, TX 78130.
