John William Sams, affectionately known by all who loved him as Jack, was suddenly called home to be with our Lord on August 23, 2003.  Born on September 13, 1949 to Jack and Margaret Sams.  Jack was a loving husband, son, brother and uncle.  Jack lived on the family ranch that he so loved.  He was an employee at the UT Health Science Center for 27 years and a member of the San Antonio Plumbers Association.  Preceded in death by his father, Jack Ward.  He is survived by his beloved wife of nine years, Jane Marie, and their adored dog, Raggles; mother, Margaret Rose Sams; sister and brother-in-law, Ann and William Toepperwein; niece, Lynette and husband Allen Munson; great-nieces, Ashton and Anissa Munson; nephew, Chad Toepperwein and wife; mother-in-law, Evelyn Werner; brother-in-law and wife, David and Anna Werner, their children, Damien Pechacek and wife Michelle, Eric and Chad Pechacek; sister-in-law and husband, Joanne and Trey Day, their children, Tyler, Danielle and Hunter Day; sister-in-law and husband Paulette and Frank Reynolds and son, Carter Reynolds.  Visitation will be held 5:00 - 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 26, 2003 at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 27, 2003 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Helotes.  Interment will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Helotes, TX.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.  Please join us in honoring Jack by visiting our memorial at www.mem.com and share your thoughts and fond memories with our family.  Sunset Northwest Funeral Home.
