Charles F. Rand, age 57, passed away Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, in San Antonio. He retired from Montgomery County, Maryland, government after 16 years of accounting services. He was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church and cherished his two dogs, Rusty and Sport. He is survived by his wife, Mary Rand; son, Brian Rand; stepdaughter, Allison Elmer; stepson, Anthony Elmer; sister, Nancy Downing; father, Paul Rand, and stepmother, Ruth Rand; numerous nieces and nephews and host of friends. Visitation was Monday, Jan. 19, at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home in San Antonio. A funeral service was held Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Schulte officiating. Interment followed at Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements by Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Rd.
Charles Rand was born March 22, 1946 in Tacoma Park, Maryland, the oldest of two children born to Helen & Paul Rand. He was baptized into the household of God at First Baptist Church of Silver Spring, Maryland. He and Mary were wed on December 22, 1990. Charlie will be remembered as a man who lived life, who loved the water and boating, for his sense of humor and his willingness to go out of his way to show caring for others.
Charlies life with us came to an end on Thursday, January 15, 2004. We look forward to our resurrection day when all who believe will be reunited in Christ..
Charles is survived by his wife Mary; son Brian Rand; step-daughter Allison Elmer; step-son Anthony Elmer; sister Nancy Downing; father Paul Rand and step-mother Ruth Rand; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
