(San Antonio Express-News, August 29, 2000)
She was baptized into the Christian faith and Christ her Lord, at St. Ann's Catholic Church on May 10, 1931. She attended the old Culebra school, and while walking to school, met a young man by the name of Bertie Potter, who worked at a nearby dairy. Theresa and Bertie were married on August 21, 1932. It was a wonderful 57-year marriage that produced five children: Peggy, Shirley, Carlyn, Donald, and Dianne. Theresa was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker.
She became a member here at Zion on May 18, 1943, and was an active member here for 57 years.
When the kids were growing older, Theresa went to work outside the home --- at a grocery, then Winn's, and finally, for 25 years, as a cafeteria worker for the Nortside School District.
Around 1980, Theresa and Bertie moved to Canyon Lake. After Bertie's death in 1990, Theresa moved back to San Antonio. In 1998, after a stroke, she moved out to the Lodge at Leon Springs --- a great final home for her.
Theresa died in the Lord this past Monday morning at the age of 83.
Theresa was preceded in death by her husband, Bertie; by her son Donald; son-in-law C. J. "Tex" Krcha; brother Wilburn Yecker; and sister Myrtle Simpson. She is survived by son, Bertie C. (Carlyn) Potter, Jr., and wife, Dolly; daughters, Peggy Krcha, Shirley Coggeshall and husband James; Dianne Korenek and husband Tom; daughter-in-law, Donna Potter; brother, Johnny Yecker; sister-in-law, Dorothy Brown; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
