
Melvin Paul Poehlmann entered into rest on May 14, 2003. He was born in Meyersville, TX on March 11, 1920, the eighth child of Heinrich and Louise Poehlmann. During World War II, he served in the Army Air Force stationed in England and Belgium. After the war, he returned to civilian life and worked as a maintenance supervisor at Kelly AFB until his retirement in 1979. In his retirement, he enjoyed traveling, growing pecans and assisting his wife raising and selling African violets. He was very active in his church, serving in various capacities, and was a 50+ year member of the Helotes Masonic Lodge. Melvin was preceded in death by his wife, Lolita. He is survived by his three sons, Terry, and his wife Phyllis of San Antonio, Christopher of San Antonio and Jeffery of Austin; three grandchildren, Christina, Wesley and Benjamin and several nephews. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Funeral arrangements are through Oak Hills Mortuary. Services will be held this Saturday, May 17, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. at Zion Lutheran Church, located at 1604 and Leslie Rd. Oak Hills Mortuary:

He was very active in his church life, serving as president of Zion Lutheran of Helotes, as well as Sunday School superintendent and president of the Lutheran Brotherhood. Faith and family were the focus of his life. He will be remembered as a gentle soul, with a strong sense of humor who lived his life for others.
Melvins's life with us came to an end on Wednesday, May 14, 2003. We look forward to our resurrection day when all who believe will be reunited in Christ.
Melvin was preceded in death by his beloved wife Lolita. He is survived by his three sons: Terry, and his wife Phyllis of San Antonio, Christopher of San Antonio, and Jeffery of Austin; three grandchildren: Christina, Wesley and Benjamin, and several nephews. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
