She met a handsome young man by the name of Melvin Poehlmann at a party at her home. That began a 4-year courtship that culminated in their marriage -- a wonderful marriage that has blessed the two of them ever since. While Lolita was probably baptized as an infant, the family wanted to be sure, and she was baptized at Woodlawn Methodist Church here in San Antonio in the early 50s. About that time, she and Melvin moved to their home on Old Prue Road, and joined Zion Lutheran Church of Helotes, where years earlier Melvin's brother had been a pastor. Lolita has been a very active member for nearly 50 years.
With Terry, and then Chris, and finally Jeff; Lolita rounded out her life with the joys of family living.
Lolita was an active volunteer in her community, and served many roles at Zion. In the mid 70s, Lolita retired from nursing, and in retirement worked with fine ceramics, and began her nurturing of African violets, a passion that has lasted throughtout the past 20 years.
Lolita died in the Lord early this past Friday morning at the age of 79. She is remembered for her kind and generous spirit, her faithfulness to family, friends and her lord and his Church.
