Francile Barbara Mae Nolte

March 24, 1928 - April 16, 1977

Fran was born in LaCrosse, WI, the youngest of three daughters born to Hazel and Ted Mathison.  She was baptized into the Christian faith and into Christ her Lord the following month, on April 20, at Holy Trinity English Lutheran Church in LaCrosse.

She spent her public school years in LaCrosse, and attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison, where she met Reginald Nolte.  They were married on September 9, 1949, a beautiful marriage that lasted 43 years until Reggie's death in November 1992.  The marriage produced four children: Reginald, David, Nancy and Bobi.

When their youngest children were in Jr. High, Fran went back to work.  She was employed by Royal Insurance for that entire time up until Reggie took a medical discharge from his Civil Service work in 1982, and Fran devoted herself to spending time with and caring for Reggie.

Fran was preceded in death by her husband, Reggie.  She is survived by her children and their families: Reg Nolte, his wife, Carol, and children Erick & Colleen; David Nolte; Nancy Brown, her husband, Mike, and children, Lauren & Greg; and Bobi Sullivan, her husband, Terry, and children, Kyle & Jeff, as well as her sisters, Eileen Layton and Madeline Hope.

She is remembered for her wonderful laughter and sense of humor, for her great care for others, for her unswerving faith in God and his love, and for her abundance of love and grace.
