Gladys C. Michalczak was born January 7, 1919, and entered into rest on December 3, 2001, at the age of 82 years. She retired as Cafeteria Manager at Thunderbird Hills Elementary School in the N.I.S.D. Gladys enjoyed bowling, playing cards, Bunco, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She was a gracious hostess who loved to feed all that visited her. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Edna (Steubing) Gussen; brother, James Gussen; husband, George Michalczak in 1994; daughter, Janice Toepperwein and grandson, Joey Toepperwein. She is survived by her daughter, Georgia Ann Edmondson-Boyer and husband Ron; son, Alfred Michalczak and wife Susie; grandchildren, Jimmy and Michael Edmondson, Darla Bacon and husband Gary, Fred Michalczak and wife Cheryl, Amy Michalczak and Andrew Michalczak; great-grand- children, Mandi Toepperwein, Randy and Dillon Edmondson, Bailee and Josh Bacon, and Shawn, Zachary and Sheldon Herber; sisters-in-law, Mabel Gussen, Shirley Michalczak and Lucille Uhl. The family wished to thank Gladys' caregiver, Cheryl Michalczak, VITAS Hospice and Dr. Kimberly Heller for their love and support to her and to them. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, December 6, 2001 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Helotes. Interment will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Helotes. If friends so desire, memorials may be directed to the Joey Toepperwein Memorial Scholarship Fund, 318 CR 761, Devine, TX 78016.
