LIECK

Helen Ida Lieck went to be with the Lord on March 24, 2001 at the age of 85.  Helen was born on November 21, 1915 at Fort Sam Houston, TX.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Jonas and Martha Seiler Jonas and her brother, Roland Jonas, Sr.  She is survived by her devoted husband of almost 65 years, Ernest W. Lieck; son, Roy H. and wife Brenda of spring Branch, TX; daughter, Joyce Ewert and husband Fred of Roswell, NM; sister, Delrose Finck and husband Delroy of Bulverde, TX; grandchildren, Rex Ewert and wife Cathy of Brady, TX, Allen Lieck and wife Penny of Kendalia, TX, Dawn Wenzel and husband George of Menard, TX, Wayne Lieck and wife Jennifer of Blanco, TX and Rhonda Hull and husband John of San Antonio; great-grandchildren, Suzanna and Carl Ewert, Brian and Steven Lieck, Emily, Dolph and Charles Wenzel, Tyler and Cassiday Lieck, Kaleigh Moreland, Ashleigh and Robert Hull; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Visitation will be held Sunday, March 25, 2001 from 3:00-5:00 P.M. at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on Bandera Road.  Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 26, 2001 at Zion Lutheran Church of Helotes, 1604 at Braun and Leslie Roads at 2:00 P.M.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church Chapel Fund or Building Fund.

Helen was educated at the Culebra School.  She received her first communion on March 29, 1931 and was confirmed in her faith that same day here at Zion.

On May 23, 1936 Helen was joined in marriage to Ernest W. Lieck.  It was told that Ernest took another date to a dance, met Helen and from that time on it has been only Helen.  Together they raised two children, Roy and Joyce.  After raising her children, Helen worked for the Alamo Heights School District for nearly ten years.  Helen was a great cook, a meticulous house and home keeper and a very loyal member of Zion Lutheran Church.  Due to her health, her last years have been in a nursing home.

Helen died peacefully in the Lord this past Saturday morning at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 3 days.  Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents.  She is survived by her husband Ernest; son, Roy H. and wife, Brenda; daughter Joyce Ewert and husband Fred; sister Delrose Finck and husband Delroy; 5 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
