KUENTZ

Emmy Brauchle Kuentz, age 87, died April 30, 1987.  Mrs. Kuentz was one of the pioneer families of Helotes.  Born to H.T. and Eleanora Brauchle, she was the 2nd oldest of their 10 children.  She spent her child and adulthood in Helotes until 1918 when she married Charles L. Kuentz.  They were married 51 years when he passed away in 1969.  Our mother could do most everything.  She loved her flowers, her yard was always blooming with roses, sweet peas, any flower you could think of.  She always had 2 large vegetable gardens and a large orchard of fruit trees.  She canned everthing and took such pride in each jar she canned.  Her daughter, Vila, said she sewed everything for her family.  She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of San Antonio where she was a Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir.  Later years she transferred to Zion Lutheran Church, Helotes and was a member of the Leon Valley Grange No. 1581.  Survivors: daughters and sons-in-law Viola H. and Frank Gonzalez, Ruth C. and Clifton Lampman; son and daughter-in-law, Charles Louis and Judy Kuentz Jr.; grandchildren, Walter F. Heinig, Jr., Sharon Solanik, C. J. Lampman Jr., Jennifer Kuentz, Charles Kuentz III, Raymond Kuentz, Gary Kuentz, Kimberly Kuentz, and Marci Kuentz, all of San Antonio; 16 great grandchildren; sister, Ellen Volz, Crystal City; brothers, Henry Brauchle, Hugh Brauchle, Bob Brauchle, all of San Antonio, Roy Brauchle, Devine; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.  Funeral services 2 p.m. Saturday, May 2, Zion Lutheran Church, Helotes with Rev. Gordon Kuenemann officiating.  Interment Zion Lutheran Cemetery.

Mrs. Kuentz Dies At 87

Mrs. Emmy Brauchle Kuentz died April 30, 1987, and was buried May 2 in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Helotes.  Her survivors are two daughters, Viola Gonzalez and Ruth Lampman; a son, Charles L. Kuentz, Jr.; nine grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; a sister, Ellen Volz of Crystal City; four brothers, Henry Brauchle of Helotes, Hugh and Bob Brauchle of San Antonio, and Roy Brauchle of Devine; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Mrs. Kuentz' family were Helotes pioneers.  She was the second oldest of the ten children of H.T. and Eleanora Brauchle.  She lived in Helotes until 1918, when she married Charles L. Kuentz. They had been married 51 years when he died in 1969.  She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in San Antonio for many years before transferring her membership to Zion Lutheran of Helotes.  She taught Sunday School and sang in the choir in San Antonio.  She also was a member of the Leon Valley Grange.  She loved flowers and grew them in abundance.  She also had a vegetable garden and fruit orchard, and canned many of their products. The Rev. Gordon Kuenemann officiated at her funeral.
