
Albert Sebastian Kuentz, of San Antonio, died peacefully at his home on January 19, 2002. He was born in San Antonio on March 23, 1910. He grew up and went to school near Leon Valley and was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church near Helotes. He moved to San Antonio as a young man and worked as a mechanic and in radio repair. He also attended night school, where he met Victoria (Vicki) Kendall. They were married in 1937 and built their first home on San Francisco Street in San Antonio. He began his civil service career at Kelly Air Force Base in 1938 but transferred to Corpus Christi NAS in October of 1941. After living in Corpus Christi, he and Vicki moved to Ingleside, TX, in 1947 where he completely rebuilt their farm home. They moved again in 1959 when he took a job at Pensacola NAS and in 1965 returned to Corpus Christi where he worked at ARADMAC until his retirement in 1975 after a long career in U.S. Civil Service. He was an avid golfer and bowler and was the 1979 San Antonio Bowling Association Singles Champion for his class. He also won six Senior Olympic Bowling medals when he was in his early 80's and bowled in a league until he was 90. He was a lifelong handyman and enjoyed working on anything mechanical. He was a member of Shepherd King Lutheran Church and the National Federation of Federal Employees. He was preceded in death by Vicki,his wife of 60 years. He is survived by a daughter, Beverly Jones and husband Ed of Redmond, WA; a son, Alan Kuentz and wife Patsy of Golden Valley, MN; two grandchildren, Alanna Jones and husband Eric Poe of Richland, WA; and Craig Jones and wife Erin of Louisville, KY, and two great-grandchildren, Corbin and Coral Jones. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2002 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge Drive, San Antonio, TX. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2002 in the funeral
home at 3:00 P.M. with Rev. Dr. John Braulick officiating. Interment will follow at Mission Burial Park North Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Shepherd King Lutheran Church, 303 West Ramsey Road, San Antonio, TX 78216. Arrangements are with Mission Park Funeral Chapels North.
