Milton Curtis Krueger
November 3, 1919 - April 9, 2001
Milton Krueger was born November 3, 1919 near San Antonio, Texas, the youngest of three children born to Albert and Margarete Krueger. He was baptized into the Christian faith on February 22, 1920 here at Zion Lutheran Church of Helotes. He was confirmed on April 9, 1933.
As a young person, Milton worked on his father's dairy, hunted and trapped on the surrounding ranchland, and excelled at playing baseball. Hobbies which followed him into later years included hunting, fishing, playing cards and dominoes, and gardening.
Milton met Irene, his wife of 58 years, at one of his baseball games. They married on February 16, 1943. Milton and his brother, Edmund, ran Krueger Brother's Dairy for many years until the farm was sold in 1978.
Active in retirement, Milton continued to hunt, garden, and tell stories to his grandchildren. He coined so many unique words and phrases that his family included them in a booklet of "Kruegerisms."
An active church member until his health deteriorated, Milton served as a church council member, coordinator of ushers, and offering counter.
Over the past 15 months, Milton was a resident of Manor Care on Babcock Road. He passed away this past Monday at the age of 81 years and 5 months. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Irene; sons, Curtis and wife Barbara, and Dean and his wife Katheryn; grandchildren, Garrett, Jason, Mike Taylor, Ryan and wife, Jennifer, Megan Stanford and husband, Cory; great-grandchildren Matthew and Stephen Krueger; numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends.
May God bless the memory of Milton Krueger to all of us.
