Aselee Mattie Klein - our precious Mom - went home to our Lord on Monday,May 6, 2002. Born December 27, 1914 in Carrizo Springs, TX, she married Frank J. Klein, Sr. on June 1, 1935 in San Antonio. They started a family and raised three sons. In 1952, she and her husband purchased a nightclub/restaurant on Bandera Rd. and renamed it the Texas Star Inn. For 30 years, "Mama Klein", as she affectionately became known, served lunches, dinners, Friday night fish fries and her famous cheeseburgers with french fries to multiple generations of customers. She retired in 1979 and resided in Leon Valley. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Mary Circle at Zion. She was a loving Mother, very family oriented, and loved to have family gatherings. Her love of flowers, working in her yard, her precious cat "Sissy" and her enjoyment of playing Bunco for over 40 years, all gave her a pleasure. Her husband, a brother, two sisters, a daughter-in-law, and one granddaughter preceded Mother in death. She is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Frank Jr. and Janell, Charles and Betty, and Bobby and Barbara; also by grandchildren, Cindy and Gary Hunter, Carol and Andy Bryant, Dr. Kim Klein, Patricia and Richard Smith, Laurie and David Lentz, Chad and Melina Klein, Michelle and Greg Webb, Mark and Tammy Stewart, Shelly Bitzkie; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends who deeply loved her. Visitation will be held 12:00-8:00 P.M., Thursday, May 9, 2002 at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, with family receiving friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held 1:30 P.M., Friday, May 10, 2002 at Zion Lutheran Church of Helotes. Interment will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Helotes, TX. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA and Hospice of South Texas, 8721 Botts St., San Antonio, TX 78217-9735 or the Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund of Helotes, 9944 Leslie Rd., San Antonio, TX 78254-9547.

Aselee Klein was born on December 27, 1914 in Carrizo Springs, Texas, the youngest of four children born to Charles and Lillie (Webb) Hall. She graduated from San Antonio Vocational & Technical School (now Fox Tech High School) in 1933.
She married Frank J. Klein, Sr. on June 1, 1935 in San Antonio and there they raised three sons. In 1952 she and her husband purchased a nightclub/restaurant on Bandera Road and renamed it the Texas Star Inn. For 30 years "Mama Klein" served lunches, dinners, Friday night fish fries and her famous cheeseburgers and french fries to multiple generations of customers.
Aselee retired in 1979 and resided in Leon Valley. In 1984 she became a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Helotes. She was an active member of the Mary Circle at Zion.
She loved her family and particulary enjoyed family gatherins. She was a loving mother, caring grandmother and proud great-grandmother. She loved flowers and yard work. Her constant companion was her precious cat, "Sissy." She also enjoyed playing cards, dominos and bunco. &bnsp;But most of all, she cherished time with her loved ones.
Aselee traveled to her new life in the Lord on Monday, May 6, 2002.
She is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Frank, Jr. and Janell, Charles and Betty, Bobby and Barbara; grandchildren, Cindy and Gary Hunter, Carol and Andy Bryant, Dr. Kim Klein, Patricia and Richard Smith, Laurie and David Lentz, Chad and Melina Klein, Michelle and Greg Web, Mark and Tammy Stewart, Shelley Bitzkie, nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and friends who deeply loved her.
