JONAS


Beatrice Estella Jonas, 73, of San Antonio, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 1995.  Mrs. Jonas was born September 6, 1921, in San Antonio, the daughter of Harry Wehmeyer and Pauline Naeglin Wehmeyer.  She married Roland Henry Jonas, Sr., October 12, 1940, and he preceded her in death on Febrary 13, 1988.  Mrs. Jonas is survived by two children, daughter, Shirley Ann Jonas; and son and wife, Roland Jonas, Jr., and Sue; four granddaughters and their husbands, Charlotte and Tom Fuleki of Spring Branch, TX., Michele and Buddy Cole of Sumter, S.C., Lesli and Mark Speilman of Devine, TX., and Martye and Seth McDonald of Goose Creek, S.C.; seven great-grandchildren, Andrew and Megan Fuleki, Richard Edwards, Jr., Jeremy and Nathan Jonas McDonald, Tyler Speilman and Jacob Cole, IV; sister and brother-in-law, Gladys and Leonard Etter, Sr., of Bulverde, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Lila Mae Wehmeyer of Downey, CA; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Daniel (Dorothy) Wehmeyer of Waco, TX., and Mrs. Clarence (Betty) Wehmeyer San Antonio; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Mrs. Jonas was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Helotes, the Beautify San Antonio Association and the Helotes Hermann Sons Lodge #76.  Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 16, 1995, at Zion Lutheran Church of Helotes with interment to follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 6:00-9:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 15, with a prayer Service to begin at 8:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Sunset Northwest Funeral Home.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers, Memorials be made to the Zion Lutheran Church #1 Restoration Fund.

Beatrice Estella Jonas

September 6, 1921 - February 14, 1995


Bea was born a child of this world on September 6, 1921, in Bexar County, Texas, the daughter of Pauline (nee) Nagelin and Harry Wehmeyer.  She was reborn a child of God when she was baptized on December 25, 1921 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  She affirmed her baptismal faith when she was confirmed December 3, 1940.  Bea became a member of Zion on that day and remained a faithful and active member until her death.  She enjoyed selling tickets at the church picnic with her husband, Roland and later with her son Roland, Jr.

Bea married Roland Henry Jonas, Sr. on October 12, 1940.  They were married at Zion Lutheran Church of Helotes by Rev. A.B. Weiss.  Their union was blessed with two children, daughter Shirley Ann Jonas of Leon Valley and a son, Roland H. Jonas, Jr. of San Antonio.

Bea was employed by Winns for 25 years.  She was a member of Helotes Hermann Sons Lodge #76 and Beautify San Antonio Association. In her later years she enjoyed her monthly bunco games with the "Bunco Ladies:".

She is survived by:
Daughter, Shirley Ann Jonas; son and daughter-in-law, Roland Jr. and Sue Jonas; one sister, Gladys and her husband, Leonard Etter, Sr. of Bulverde and one brother, Harry and his wife, Lila Mae of Downey, California; 2 sisters-in-law, Mrs. Daniel (Dorothy) Wehmeyer of Waco, Texas and Mrs. Clarence (Betty) Wehmeyer of San Antonio; 4 granddaughters and their husbands, Charlotte and Tom Fuleki of Spring Branch, Michele and Buddy Cole of Sumter, South Carolina, Lesli and Mark Speilman of Devine and Martye and Seth McDonald of Goose Creek, South Carolina; and 7 great-grandchildren, Andrew and Megan Fuleki of Spring Branch, Richard Edwards, Jr. of San Antonio, Jeremy and Nathan Jonas McDonald of Goose Creek, South Carolina and Tyler Speilman of Devine, Jacob Cole IV of Sumter, South Carolina and many nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of friends.
