Richard Gary (Rick) Hansen, entered Heaven August 20, 1998, after a six month battle with cancer. He was born June 27, 1946, in San Antonio where he lived until his death. He died very peacefully at home surrounded by his loving and devoted family. Rick earned a bachelor's degree in eduction at Southwest Texas State University. Shortly after he began his first teaching assignment, he joined his parents in operating ABC Rug Works due to his father's illness. Rick returned to teaching, earned a master's degree in special education from Our Lady of the Lake University, and spent the last nine years working with special needs children. He taught at Holmes, Southwest, and Jefferson High Schools. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence G., Sr. and Helen Hansen; his father-in-law, L.L. Loyd; and his brother-in-law, Bill Loyd. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Linda Loyd Hansen; two sons, Lt. Richard Gray Hansen, USAF and Barrett Thomas Hansen; mother-in-law, Josie Loyd; one sister and her husband, Carol and Jim Keeler, Sr.; two brothers and their wives, Larry, Jr. and Jo Ann Hansen, Mike, Sr. and Rita Hansen; five brothers-in-
law and their wives, John and Amy Loyd, Dr. James Loyd, Dr. Charles and Ann Loyd, Edward and Elaine Loyd, and David Loyd; two special aunts, Helen Menard and Caroline Daniel. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7 o'clock to 9 o'clock at Porter Loring.
