Eugene J. "Gene" Carolan, age 68, died Thursday, May 28, 1998.  He was born in Detroit, MI on March 19, 1930 and resided in San Antonio since 1947.  He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Helotes, President of the Helotes Hermann sons Lodge No. 76 and was also Treasurer of the Home Association, member of the Beautify San Antonio Association and retired from Kelly A.F.B. in 1986 after 37 years of service.  He leaves behind his wife of 32 years, Evelyn Carolan; mother-in-law, Mildred Braun; daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Sean Ryan, Pam and Randall Quick, Theresa and Wesley Robertson; sons and daughters-in-law, Russell and Linda Carolan, Michael and Katherine Gass, Carl and Dallas Gass and Daniel Carolan; grandchildren, Sarah Carolan, Michael Gass, Jr., Meghan Gass, Emily Ryan, Krista Quick, Garrett Quick, Casey Gass and Cullen Gass.  Visitation was held on Saturday, May 30, 1998 from 5:00-9:00 P.M. and will continue on Sunday, May 31 from 1:00-9:00 P.M. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge Dr.  The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 1, 1998 at 11:00 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church in Helotes with Pastor Peter Manfred and Pastor Scot Sorensen officiating.  Intermnet will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Emil Ellis, Lawrence Schenk, J.D. Elliot, Kelly Fryar, Matt Burkholder, George Richmond, Oscar Kuehner and Vernon Schultz.  Honorary pallbearers will be Northside I.S.D.
