Ed A. Biering, 42 yeard-old World War veteran, was found shot to death Saturday afternoon on the ranch of Mrs. Kate Benke, his aunt, 22 miles from the city on the Culebra road. Biering's body was found under a tree. His jacket had been neatly folded and placed in a fork of the tree. Deputies Houston Minor and Everett Riddell said a note found in a jacket pocket was turned over to Justice of the Peace Bat Corrigan who was conduncting an inquest. Biering was shot in the heart. A rifle was on the ground beside his body. He left the ranch house Saturday morning stating he intended to visit friends on an adjoining ranch. When he did not return at noon John and Walter Benke, sons of Mrs. Benke, set out in search of him. They found the body. Funeral services for Biering will be held at 2 p.m. Monday from the Riebe chapel, the Rev. G. A. Poehlman officiating. Interment will be at Helotes. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Edna Biering; son, Raymond Biering; daughter, Viola Biering, mother, Mrs. Emilie Biering; brothers, Charlie and Fred Biering of Helotes, Henry Biering of San Antonio, Alfred Biering of California and Emil Biering of Culebra, and sisters, Mrs. Herbert Scheel of Alice and Mrs. Arnold Scheel of Bexar county.
