Alex H. Benke, age 82, died Wednesday, May 6, 1998. He was born on December 12, 1915 and was a native and lifetime resident of San Antonio. After serving in the U.S. Army, Mr. Benke went to work for San Antonio Equipment company where his love for tractors and other equipment began to grow. He especially loved working with antique tractors and attending tractor shows. He also retired from civil service at Kelly A.F.B. Mr. Benke was a very active member of Hope Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor V. Benke, with whom he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on August 14, 1998. He is also survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, David A. and Sandrea Benke of Littleton, Co, Thomas P. and Lecy Benke of San Antonio; grandchildren, Marissa Benke of Littleton, CO and Robert Benke of San Antonio; sister Mary Simmons of Yorktown, TX; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 8, 1998 from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge Dr. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 1998 at 2:00 P.M. at Hope Lutheran Church, with Pastor Tom Dietzel and Pastor Bill Swantner officiating. Interment will follow in Lockhill Cemetery. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Hope Lutheran Church, 5714 Callaghan Rd., San Antonio, TX 78228. Arrangements are with
