Caution: Because a veteran was living in Marathon County at the time any list was compiled after the war does no necessarily mean he entered the military from Marathon County.  Further research must be taken to establish a veterans residence at the time of his entrance into military service.

• 1890 Federal Census Special Schedule -  Each entry shows the name of a Union veteran of the Civil War, name of his widow, if appropriate; veteran's rank, company, regiment, or vessel; dates of enlistment and discharge and length of service in years, months, and days; post office address; nature of any disability; and remarks.  The schedule entries for the various Marathon County civil divisions have been transcribed and may be viewed by clicking on the civil division of interest.
