Zion's WWII Veterans      

On May 24th, 1998 Zion Lutheran Church recognized their members who served in the Armed Forces during World War II.  A recreation of the "star banner" that hung in the church during the war years was unveiled at that time.  The following is taken from the plaque that hangs near that banner in the Zion Lutheran Church Chapel (Church #1).



During World War II Zion Lutheran Church members made a banner commemorating the members of the congregation who were serving the United States at that time.  Each blue star represented a Zion member in the armed forces.  The gold star represented Richard D. McCulloch, the only member of Zion to die while serving his country during WWII.  The banner was displayed in the church sanctuary during the war.  At the war's end each star was cut from the banner and given to the service member or their family.  This banner was recreated in 1998.  The gold star is from the original banner.  The following is a reconstructed list of the members:
