Show Biscuits (Rolls)

This recipe came from Oklahoma. I'm not sure about it's date.
My cousin, Darrell, sent it to me February 1998. Here's what he wrote about the recipe.
"I picked up this recipe at Mom's the last time I was there. She had clipped it out of a newspaper. We tried them, and they are great. Also, it doesn't take long to prepare them."
His mother, Aunt Tye, is in her ninties so this could be a new or a very old recipe.

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Mix dry ingredients. Add shortening, yeast and water. Knead and roll out. Cut in pieces with small glass or biscuit cutter. Put in lightly greased pan and allow to rise at room temperature for 30 minutes.
Bake in preheated oven at 425 degrees for about 12 minutes or until brown.
Serve and enjoy.
