Eudora Lite Setup
This document will help you configure Eudora Light 3.06 as your e-mail
client. If you have a 'Eudora Light' icon on your desktop, you already
have Eudora Light installed on your computer. If this is the case, skip
to PART B.
PART A - Installing Eudora Light 3.06
- Double-click the 'eul306.exe' icon on your desktop.
- Click 'Yes' on the 'InstallShield' window that appears.
- Click 'Next' on the 'Welcome' window to continue setup.
- Click 'Yes' on the 'Software License Agreement' window to install Eudora.
- Make sure that 'Eudora Light for Windows 95/NT (32-bit)
(Recommended) ' is selected, then click 'Next' to complete the
installation.
- Click 'Next' on the 'Select Components' window that appears.
- Click 'Next' on the 'Chose Destination Location' window.
- Click 'Next' on the 'Chose Destination Location' window.
- Click 'Next' to 'Start Copying Files'.
- Click 'OK' on the 'Information' window that appears.
- Click 'Yes' to view the README file. Close the README file when
you're finished.
- 'Eudora Light' is now installed on your computer. Proceed to PART B.
PART B - Eudora Light 3.06 Setup
- Double-click the 'Eudora' icon on your desktop, proceed to step
2. If you do not have a 'Eudora' icon on your desktop, click on
'Start | Programs | Eudora Light | Eudora Light'. You may be
prompted to make Eudora your default mail program. If not, proceed
to step 3.
- Check the box that says 'Don't ask me anymore', click 'Yes'.
- The 'Using Context Sensitive Help' window should appear. If this
window does not appear, skip to step 4. If this window does appear,
click 'Close'.
- An 'Options' window should appear, skip to step 5. If not, click
on 'Tools', and then 'Options'.
- Scroll up through the categories on the left hand side to the
'Getting Started' field.
- Type your yourlogin@pop.texas.net in the 'POP account' field.
Type your name in the 'Real name' field.
Type your Texas.Net e-mail address (yourlogin@texas.net) in
the 'Return Address' field.
'Winsock' should be selected on this screen.
- Click the 'Personal Info' button located underneath the 'Getting
Started' button on the left.
- Type yourlogin in the 'Dialup username' field.
- Click the 'Hosts' button on the left.
- Type mail.texas.net in the 'SMTP' field
- Scroll down and click the 'Advanced Network' button on the left.
- Select the box that says 'Automatically dial & hangup this
connection', then click the drop-down arrow in the 'Entry' box and
select Texas.Net (or whatever dialer you use to connect to
Texas.Net).
- Enter yourlogin in the 'Username' box. Note: If you do not want
to be prompted for the password every time you check mail, be sure to
select the 'Save password' box.
- Click 'Ok'
- You can now check mail by clicking on 'File', then 'Check Mail',
or by clicking on the appropriate icon at the top of the Eudora
toolbar.
- If the 'Corrupt Mailbox' message appears, click 'Create new',
then click 'OK'.
- Enter your password in the 'Password' field, then click 'OK'.
- Make sure yourlogin appears in the 'Username' field, enter your
password in the 'Password' field, and be sure to leave the 'Domain'
field blank. Click 'Connect' to check your Texas.Net e-mail
account!
